PERSONAL LETTER.

 


I. Definition
A personal letter is a type of letter (or informal composition) that usually concerns personal matters (rather than professional concerns) and is sent from one individual to another. It's longer than a dashed-off note or invitation and is often handwritten and sent through the mail.

II. Structures of Personal Letter
Date: the date indicates when the letter was written 
Address: shows the address of the sender 
Salutation & name: contains grooting and the recipient's name 
Introduction: usually a response to the previous letters or self-introductions
Body: tells about all of the things you want to say to the recipient
Closure: to close the conversation
Complimentary close: a short closing expression 
Signature: add your signature or your initials

III. The Linguistic Features of Personal Letter

Sentence structure
- Accuracy of grammar is important
- Complete sentences are expected
- Slang can be used
- Use the contractions such as I'll, I'm, We'll
- Use personal pronouns such as I, We, You 
- Use active voice

Style
- Language use may be personal like the first and second person pronouns
- Be warm
- Use the person's name you are writing to
- Very sentence length
- Write in a natural, conversational style
- Let your personality shine through in your writing

EXPOSITION TEXT (hortatory exposition)

  I. Definition  Narrative exposition is the insertion of background information within a story or narrative. This information can be about the setting, characters' backstories, prior plot events, historical context, etc. In literature, exposition appears in the form of expository writing embedded within the narrative. II. Purpose To persuade the readers or listener that something should or should not be the case. III. Structure # Thesis: This section will contain the issue or problem that will be raised, while in the analytical exposition this section will contain the position, opinion or attitude of the author. # Argument: The section that contains the opinion or argument that the author begins to explain.
