OPINION & THOUGHT.

 


DEFINITION
The definition of an opinion is the way we feel or think about something. Our opinion about something or someone is based on our perspective. Whenever we give or express our opinion it is important to give reasoning or an example to support our opinion.


1. Expressions of General Opinions

• Almost everyone think...
• Some people say that...

2. Expressions of Personal Opinions
• In my opinion...
• I think...
• I personally think...

3. Agreeing with an opinion
• Of course
• This is absolutely right
• I agree with this opinion

4. Disagreeing with an opinion
• I'm sorry, i dont agree with you
• I don't believe that
• I disagree with you


EXAMPLE OF DIALOGUE
A:  What’s your opinion of smoking?
B:  I’m not sure. For me, it’s important that children do not smoke.
A:  But do you think it’s a good idea that people can smoke in shops and buses?
B:  I don’t think so. Children use buses too.
A:  So what do you think about stopping smoking everywhere in Jakarta?
B:  I think that’s a good idea.

CONCLUSION: Basically a statement about what you have in mind about something, either agree or disagree, pro or con and so on. Thoughts are actually ideas or what you think about something. It can be an opinion, solution, critics etc.

EXPOSITION TEXT (hortatory exposition)

  I. Definition  Narrative exposition is the insertion of background information within a story or narrative. This information can be about the setting, characters' backstories, prior plot events, historical context, etc. In literature, exposition appears in the form of expository writing embedded within the narrative. II. Purpose To persuade the readers or listener that something should or should not be the case. III. Structure # Thesis: This section will contain the issue or problem that will be raised, while in the analytical exposition this section will contain the position, opinion or attitude of the author. # Argument: The section that contains the opinion or argument that the author begins to explain. Both hortatory exposition and analytical exposition have the same explanation in this section. # Repetition: Repetition is the conclusion.
